Local foundations have joined together to power The Giving Partner, a free online tool to share community knowledge about charitable organizations in Southwest Florida, helping donors and citizens make more informed decisions about their philanthropy.
The Giving Partner is set to publicly launch with a fast-paced 36-Hour Giving Challenge?during which more than $501,000 will be available to match online donations:
- More than 100 local nonprofits that have developed completed profiles in The Giving Partner will be able to access the funds.
- Matching funds will be based on individual donations to nonprofits, the number of unique donations nonprofits receive, $25 and above, and other criteria.
- The 36-Hour Giving Challenge will take place from 6 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27 through 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28 online at www.thegivingpartner.org.
- A ?leaderboard? will showcase minute-by-minute totals of donations each nonprofit has received in addition to the total amount each nonprofit has raised.
The Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Gulf Coast Community Foundation and Manatee Community Foundation?with support from The Patterson Foundation?are collaborating on The Giving Partner initiative?and the 36-Hour Giving Challenge for more efficient knowledge sharing and the good of the charitable sector.
?We expect to infuse more than $1 million in funding to our local nonprofit community,? said Roxie Jerde, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.? ?But just as importantly, we want to showcase The Giving Partner as the community?s go-to source for valuable information about our local nonprofits? programs and impact, governance, management and finances.?
?The Giving Partner not only connects donors and funders to nonprofits they care about, it also provides information for effective and informed community philanthropy,? said Debra Jacobs, president and CEO of The Patterson Foundation. ?We are inspired and proud to support this collaboration among our region?s funders to uplift the community vision of philanthropy.?
?We try to leverage technology wherever we can to strengthen philanthropy,? said Teri A Hansen, president and CEO of Gulf Coast Community Foundation. ?The Giving Partner will provide a fuller picture of the amazing work of local nonprofits.? This Giving Challenge will be a great introduction to the power of this new tool.?
