Lorillard Tobacco Co. giving $100,000 to annual fundraising campaign, United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro; goal for campaign, which kicks off Feb. 21 and is chaired by Frank LoNano, president of LaNano Financial Advisers, is expected to exceed $1.1 million raised last year; Lorillard's support of United Arts Council has grown from $50,000 in 2002.

Mid-Atlantic affiliate, American Heart Association, gave $770,000 grant to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, to support five cardiovascular disease research projects.

North Carolina Bar Association Foundation, Cary, awarding 20 grants totaling $215,317 for January-June 2012.

Grifols named lobby of new Learning Resource Center, Johnston Community College; company since 2008 has donated over $190,000 to the school.

Yes! Solar Solutions, Cary, and Argand Energy Solutions, Charlotte, installing solar photovoltaic rooftop system at Dorcas Ministries, Cary; Argand and its investor will own and operate the system, with no out-of-pocket expenses for Dorcas, which will receive annual lease payments for the roof-space from the investor; under power-purchase agreement with Progress Energy, investor will? sell electricity generated by the system to Progress Energy for 20 years; starting in seventh year, Dorcas will have option to buy the solar system at fair-market price.

Winston-Salem Foundation awarded $491,029 in grants in January to local nonprofits.

SECU Foundation, partnering with N.C. Housing Finance Agency, provided zero percent construction loans for group homes in Lee and Randolph counties.
